Fresh vs. Frozen vs. Canned
Fresh veggies are normally picked before they reach their most nutrient state and before they are ripe. Additionally in the shipping process they are exposed to many different elements that also affect the amount of nutrients they contain. However when 'in season', vegetables bought fresh are a great way to go. In addition to being nutritious they are reasonably priced. An obvious down side to fresh is I find myself wasting a lot more food. Fresh vegetables tend to go bad a lot quicker than canned or frozen vegetables and I end up throwing away more food than I care to note.
It's also important to make a point that the preparation of the vegetable once you get it home is also very important. Many people tend to over cook their veggies or add a lot of unhealthy things to them when they cook. When you do that, it doesn't matter if you bought them canned, frozen, or fresh, you are greatly depleting if not eliminating their nutritional value. So be careful and consious of that when you're cooking.
So, vegetables bought in any way is better than not buying them at all, but giving a little thought into how they were preserved, frozen, or shipped can help us all make healthier choices.
This is something I've wondered about so I decided to do a little research. Which is better? Well, the answer, I've found, really depends on many variables. There are pros to all three.
Let's look at canned vegetables. During preservation, canned veggies tend to lose some if its nutrients. But, many of us are forced to buy canned veggies when certain vegetables are out of season and prices for those 'out of season' fresh veggies are more expensive. An obvious pro to choosing canned vegetables is they have a long shelf life.
Frozen is a nice alternative to canned vegetables. Typically vegetables are frozen when they are at their nutritious peak. When buying those 'out of season' vegetables, frozen is a great way to go & depending on many factors can be better than even going fresh.
Testimonials
I am embarrassed to admit that when I began working out I couldn't even do 1 sit up. Now, after over a year of training with Larry, I feel stronger and healthier than I have in a long time. Larry motivates me to push past my perceived limits and has the ability to keep the workouts challenging, creative and even fun! I highly recommend him as a personal trainer.

I have been working with Larry Coleman for over a year. Larry is a very polished professional. He is a pleasure to work with. Larry's program is helping me to become stronger and more fit. Larry has me doing exercises I normally would not volunteer for, and he constantly varies them so they are never boring. I am starting to build muscle and lose fat. The best thing I ever did was to get started with a Personal Trainer. I am fortunate to have found a really good one. Thanks, Larry!

I had to interview 9 different trainers before I found Larry. Thank God I found him. Having worked with good trainers in the past, I knew what I wanted. I've been working with Larry since the end of February 09 and have been so pleased. He is very professional, and highly trained. I really enjoy the way he changes the workouts every session so I'm not getting bored and I seem to be getting faster results. In fact, the staff at my doctor's office comment on the change and they all have Larry's name and number.I have been working with a physical therapist due to arthritis in my knee for the last month and he has nothing but praise for Larry. He has seen so many trainers ignore what their clients can't do, push them and then they return to him with more injuries. Larry has worked with me to make sure I'm doing the assigned exercises correctly and doesn't let me quit before I do the specified number because of the pain. We both know I have to do them and I appreciate his encouragement. I have only high praise and would highly recommend Larry to anyone seeking an excellent personal trainer.

Working out with Larry has changed my life! So far i have lost 38 pounds, closing in on my goal of 50. Besides the weight loss, I'm also stronger, my cholesterol is the lowest ever, and my doctor has told me i might be able to soon get off blood pressure medication. What I like about Larry is he's always changing things up on me.. It's never boring. He also makes me do things I would never do working out on my own...which is really what it's all about. He pushes me hard, but he doesn't kill me. (not yet anyway!) Thanks Larry!

I have been working with Larry Coleman for a year. The accomplishments from this training paid off for me this month. On the ninth day of a ten day cruise, I caught the heel of my shoe while entering the cabin bathroom. I fell in the door and my right arm landed on the lower shower surround. I was in shock for a few minutes, then got up, washed my hands (the purpose for entering the bathroom), and went to meet my husband for dinner. The next day, I was shocked to discover the terrible bruise which surrounded my elbow and continued almost to my wrist. It was dark blue and purple and quite sore. It is amazing I did not break my arm and I credit Larry's workouts. It is four weeks later now and I still have a bone bruise, but no broken arm! I was scheduled for Arthroscopic Knee Surgery three days after returning from the cruise. During my Pre Op, the nurse saw my arm and was really surprised I had no broken bones. After the surgery, I went to physical therapy for three weeks. I had no knee pain and had no difficulty doing any of the exercises. My therapist was surprised that I was progressing so quickly. The credit here again goes to my workouts with Larry Coleman. He made certain I worked my legs and knees at least once a week, so my both my legs and knees were in good condition. My physical therapist agreed that my rapid recovery was due to my previous workouts. When I fell on the ship, I also hit my back on the side of the shower. After the surgery, this injury was more painful than my knee. Fortunately, this area healed in about two weeks. Probably, another credit to Larry's training! Thanks, Larry. I appreciate your efforts during our workout sessions. Your challenges saved me from a lot of pain and suffering. I realize now, more than ever, how important it is to keep physically fit.

Trainer Speaks...
Q: Are free weights better than machines?
A: Yes & no, there are pros for both. Free weights allow you to work more muscles at one time. When using proper form and technique, they can be very beneficial. Using free weights causes you to use more muscles including the prime muscle that you're working on and also the surrounding stabilizing muscles.
However if you are more of a beginner, there are pros for working with machines. First of all it is safer especially if you're not being trained by a professional. Machines are also good for isolating a specific muscle. Each machine is designated for a particular muscle and they are labeled in a way to help aide you.
